The Habitat Sign is a multifunctional structure designed to enhance biodiversity while engaging people with nature. Built from durable, locally sourced timber, it integrates living habitat into a practical landscape feature. The steel grill protects a Hymenoptera block to support solitary bees, wasps, and other cavity-nesting invertebrates. These species are essential pollinators and natural pest regulators yet often lack suitable nesting opportunities in urban landscapes.
During the nesting season (March-August), visitors can observe solitary bee activity up close, making the Habitat Sign both functional and educational. The robust frame accommodates an A1 interpretation panel (artwork commissioned separately), allowing organisations to share tailored biodiversity messages, site information, or wayfinding.

Installation
Front face must be installed with a southerly aspect free from direct sunlight obstruction such as buildings and trees.
Sign legs are concreted into the ground a minimum of 500mm deep with sloped finish for water runoff away from the legs.
Maintenance
Periodic wipe down to remove dirt and detritus.
Further application of natural oil after year 2 will prolong the life of the product.
