Habitat for cavity nesting solitary bees and solitary wasps. Our bee posts are designed to provide habitat for cavity nesting solitary bees and the wider ecological community of invertebrates that are associated with these organisms. Cavity nesting solitary bees and wasps usually nest in dried hollow plant stems and old beetle larvae holes created in dead and decaying wood.

By installing a bee post in a landscape or garden, we can replicate this deadwood habitat and provide the necessary conditions for these critically important pollinators to complete their life cycle. In addition, we have recorded a variety of beetles, earwigs, caterpillars and other invertebrates using these structures too.

Installation

This product arrives in separate parts. The customer will need to assemble the fingers and brackets onto the bee post.

Front face must be installed with a southerly aspect free from direct sunlight obstruction such as buildings and trees.

Post are concreted into the ground a minimum of 500mm deep with sloped finish for water runoff away from the post

Maintenance

Periodic wipe down to remove dirt and detritus including bird faeces. Further application of natural oil after year 3 will prolong the life of the product.
